Union Pacific reimbursement agreement to design 300 West and Pacific Drive intersection

    Approved · 5-0

Union Pacific requires payment for its design time before discussing changes. The previously budgeted project adds a signal; the city's goal is to remove the tracks through the corridor. Councilmember Shelton asked that 400 West, where the railroad blocked a turn lane, be included. The agreement has a not-to-exceed amount not stated in the minutes.

Moved by Councilmember Taylor, seconded by Councilmember Barnes. Vote: 5-0

  2. May 25, 2021 · City Council

CRS Engineers hired to design 300 West-Pacific Drive intersection

    Approved · 5-0

Selected CRS Engineers, which staff said had the winning proposal, to design a signal at 300 West and Pacific Drive, including possible widening; staff said the signal should come before one at 400 West because 300 West carries traffic under I-15. Councilmember Barnes noted CRS has staff experienced with the railroad. Fee not stated in minutes.

    • CRS also selected the same night for the 700 North Connection design

Police would add two officers and a detective; fire would add five of six requested positions (+$640,118) and lease one ambulance, as American Fork's station logged over 4,000 calls, the busiest in Utah County. Requests for $37 million in capital projects were cut to recommendations including $8.67 million carried over for Fire Station 52 and a police shooting range (bond proceeds), $2.63 million for pavement management, $1.92 million for the 700 North Connection, $850,000 for 300 West-Pacific Drive, $500,000 for Art Dye parking, $637,000 for the Art Dye Trail and $300,000 for open space land. The fleet budget is $1.79 million. In the Egg Farm RDA, 1100 South widening ($1,103,313) is set for FY22 while 1500 South widening is unfunded. Montoya said the city pays about $12,000 a month in card processing fees.
