The city's fiscal 2025 financial report says $3 million in grant revenue for a since-delayed water project was recorded too soon, and lowers the starting balances to match. The report also lists that year's tax-increment reimbursements to two auto dealers.

Pick a park and reserve a pavilion

Use the park map for photos, descriptions and amenities, since neighborhood parks differ.
Rotary Park, Evergreen Park and Quail Cove have reservable pavilions. At Quail Cove the pavilion and the amphitheater are listed separately, so confirm which one you are booking.
Organized games or practices that limit other visitors' use need a special permit from the recreation department.
Amphitheater reservations for the 2027 season open Monday, November 16, 2026. The city lists Parks Administrative Assistant Stacy Chandler at 801-854-5699 for information.
Pavilion bookings are a separate process: they go through the city's online system, and dates between April 15 and the first weekend in September must be made at least 7 days ahead.
From Labor Day to April 15, pavilions are first come, first served.
Organized games, practices and special events that limit others' use of a park need a special permit, and the application is available online.

Follow American Fork's snow parking and plowing rules

From November 1 to March 31, no parking is allowed on city streets after measurable snowfall until the street has been plowed, and parked vehicles may be cited.
Keep snow and ice from private property out of the public right-of-way, sidewalks and travel lanes. Consider waiting until plows pass before clearing driveways and mailboxes.
Check the Snow Plow Priority Map to see how your street is handled; private roads and UDOT streets are not city-plowed.

American Fork at a glance

Utah County · Utah

Mormon pioneers settled American Fork in the summer of 1850, and Matthew Caldwell, who arrived that fall, is believed to have built the first house. The Mott brothers dug the first irrigation ditch in 1851. A conference in September 1852 decided to lay out a city called Lake City, and the Utah State Historical Society says the community was incorporated by legislative act on 4 June 1853. The city charter was amended in 1860 and the name reverted to American Fork, which the article says was to avoid mail confusion with Salt Lake City.

The article also notes a few later milestones. Columbia Steel Company, later U.S. Steel and then Geneva Steel, was built in 1942-43. The public library was built in 1968 without a bond issue, and the Utah Pageant of the Arts ran from 1973 to 1992. The city website lists agendas, utilities and billing, and an I Want To page for common services. Recent city notices include metered pressurized irrigation rates, which take effect Jan. 1, 2027 and are phased in over five years, and the annual Halloween on Main event on Oct. 30. The city publishes a monthly newsletter, and its budget and annual financial report are linked from this page.
