Global Property townhome rezone, 295 West 500 North (Ordinance 20-19)

    Denied · 5-0

The request was to rezone 2.72 acres from NR-6 to MR-9 for townhomes. Staff and the Planning Commission (7-0) recommended denial, citing the Detached Residential designation and the need for single-family homes. Sue Sorenson, Ellis Neighborhood chair, Susan Scott (citing access, sewer problems and upkeep) and Joy Reyes opposed it. Lance Zollinger said a single-family design had been blocked and the townhomes would be for sale. Council Member Simmonds noted the Planning Commission's concern that land acquisition could make single-family development easier.
