BCP Property general plan amendment (Ordinance 24-2024)

    Denied · 5-0

Tony Trane represented the applicant seeking to change 14.67 acres from very low density residential with the Pioneer Village Mixed Use Overlay to low density residential. Members questioned whether piecemeal development would undermine the overlay concept. Residents Larry Handfield (density), Kenneth Glade (connectivity, agriculture; opposed the overlay), Trent Toughride (traffic, overlay), Jessica Topper (needs another road connection), Michelle Christensen (opposed more density), Randy Mellow and Eve Brown (opposed the overlay; Mellow cited 1100 West traffic) spoke. The council denied it, finding the applicant could reach the same goal under the existing designation, LDR allows too much density and the removal of the overlay does not fit the area, and recommended a proposal with VLDRA designation and R-1-22 zoning.
