Closure of vehicular traffic at 1870 N. State Street (Resolution 2025-38)

    Approved with conditions · 5-0

City Engineer Luke Seegmiller said the city is partnering with UDOT to relocate driveways and add a signal to address collisions (three in 2024, one in 2020). The only city cost would be widening the road, and the project is not in this year's budget. Several residents from nearby neighborhoods, including Trinnaman Lane, worried a signal would push more traffic through their streets and said 1500 North should carry it; others supported the closure and described close calls with semi-trucks. Staff said map apps route drivers through neighborhoods and that closing the intersection is safer than leaving it open until the signal arrives. Council members discussed an interim three-way stop and lighting on Trinnaman. The council approved the closure and directed staff to evaluate traffic patterns and gather data on next steps.
