Discussed
Staff proposed rezoning about 1.73 acres of eight parcels from Mixed Residential Low (MR-12) and Commercial to Mixed Use. Staff and the Planning Commission (7-0, January 14) recommended approval. Simmonds raised concern about commercial spread into single-family areas; DeSimone said the general plan calls for the block to convert over time. Amy Anderson noted the area already has mixed-use zoning and Jensen noted possible traffic from the 100 West bridge.

Council heard a request to rezone eight parcels, about 1.73 acres, from MR-12 and Commercial to Mixed Use; the Planning Commission recommended approval 7-0. Applicant representative Kevin Allen said monitoring showed at least 40 parking spaces open at all times. Resident Gail Yost raised congestion during school and recreation center events, and written comments from the owner of a nearby restaurant opposed the change over traffic and parking. Jensen asked for a continuance for more answers and Simmonds wanted traffic and accident counts. The council continued it to March 2.

Jensen said he met with the owner of a nearby restaurant, who was mostly satisfied but still had parking concerns that Jensen said the plan addressed.
