Workshop: proposed sale of Deer Pen Subdivision lots

    Discussed

Mayor Daines proposed selling 22 lots on about 8.63 acres that the city bought for a cemetery no longer needed, with proceeds going to the cemetery perpetual care fund for an irrigation system. The subdivision was approved by the Planning Commission in 2016 but never reached the council. A public notice, hearing and public bid are required. The city would build a natural-area Deer Pen Park. Amy Anderson supported conditions to protect sight lines.

Public hearing on sale of Deer Pen Subdivision lots

    No action

The council held a hearing on selling 22 lots on about 8.63 acres. Proceeds would fund an automated irrigation system for the cemetery perpetual care fund. The property is being appraised and would be sold by public bid with a minimum bid set by the appraisal. Parks Director Russ Akina said about 23 acres of natural park would remain, with trail connections to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. A deed restriction would bar vinyl or chain-link fencing next to the park. A resident who lives within 300 feet submitted written objections about home value and views, water pressure, drainage, parking and trail access, and whether public notice was mailed. The hearing closed with no action recorded.
