Eastern Utah: Carbon, Emery, Grand, San Juan, Uintah, Duchesne and Daggett
Zones 5b to 8a; most cities fall in 6a and 6b.
Eastern Utah mixes some of the earliest springs in the state with the Uinta Basin's shorter seasons. Moab's average last frost in USU's planting table is April 18, and USU suggests hardy vegetables there from March 15. Price averages May 12 and 148 frost-free days, Blanding May 13 and 153, and Roosevelt May 18 and 130.[1][2]
Higher towns run later: Monticello's last frost averages May 28, Vernal's May 27, Duchesne's May 23 and Manila's June 2.[2]

Which lawn calendar to use
Carbon, Emery, Grand, San Juan and Wayne counties are in the southeast turf calendar,[3] while Daggett and Duchesne are in the northern Utah calendar.[4] Uintah County is not named in either, so use the northern Utah calendar as a rough guide for Vernal.
Good to know here
- USU's southeast calendar marks several items for Grand County and southern San Juan County only, where the season runs longer.[3]
