Lawn and garden

Summit and Wasatch counties

Zones 5b to 6a; most cities fall in 5b and 6a.

Park City, Heber and Coalville have the shortest seasons of Utah's populated places. USU lists Park City with an average last frost of June 9, a first fall frost of September 1 and just 92 frost-free days.[1] USU's planting table puts Heber's last frost at June 11 and Coalville's at June 18.[2] Most of these towns land in zones 5b and 6a on the 2023 USDA data.

That short window changes what works. USU's table has the tender group (cucumbers, sweet corn, summer squash) going in June 5 at Heber and June 10 at Coalville, and lists the very tender group on May 15 only with a cover over the plants.[2]

Zone by city

Zones come from the 2023 USDA map data matched to each city's nearest ZIP codes. A range means the ZIP codes around the city disagree; your own yard may differ, so check your address on the USDA map. Tap a city for its page.
