  1. February 10, 2026 · City Council

Noise control chapter amendment (Ordinance 04-2026)

    Approved

An ordinance amending Lehi Municipal Code Title 5, Chapter 3 on noise control was on the agenda for consideration. Lehi City's adoption notice says the council adopted Ordinance 04-2026, clarifying how noise is measured, who enforces the rules and who is responsible for a violation. The notice gives no vote count.

  2. January 13, 2026 · City Council

    Noise ordinance review

    Discussed

Community Development Director Kim Struthers presented the latest draft covering who can be cited, hours, how sound is measured and penalties. The council confirmed an approach of education and voluntary compliance first, with citations if people refuse. There was broad agreement on noisy work no earlier than 7 a.m. year-round and a 30-second measurement window. The city has basic and Type 2 meters and may need a costlier Type 1 meter if cases go to court. The draft moves violations to a Class C misdemeanor; one concern was that this lacks 'teeth', while City Attorney Ryan Wood said it better matches the seriousness of typical noise cases.

  3. December 2, 2025 · City Council

    Noise control ordinance discussion

    Discussed

Kim Struthers led a discussion on making the noise ordinance enforceable and updated. The council agreed to reduce violations from a Class B to a Class C misdemeanor, clarified who can be cited, and discussed who may take measurements and with what equipment, a proposed three-minute measurement period, using the receiving property's (most restrictive) zoning standard, and whether nighttime hours should run 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. or to 7 a.m., possibly seasonally. Exemptions for permitted events and unavoidable roadway and railroad noise were reviewed. Staff will research other cities and return with a draft in a work session.
