Coalville

Coalville at a glance

Summit County · Utah

Coalville is Summit County’s county seat, with a courthouse that tells a different story from the resort-centered image often associated with the county. County history connects its rise to coal discoveries, nearby Echo and the Union Pacific Railroad.

The present historic courthouse was completed in 1904 and later expanded and restored. It remains a useful landmark for understanding why county government is centered here. Nearby Echo State Park adds a recreation connection, but the reservoir and park are separate destinations rather than facilities managed by Coalville City.
