Hutchings Museum artifact search at the Indian Caves
Approved
Daniela Larsen of the Hutchings Museum asked for city permission to surface-collect artifacts, including flint, at the Indian Caves before they are damaged. A representative of the State Artifact Office said no other searches have been recorded in the area; the surfacing would take a few hours and a few days for a report. Larsen said the museum needs permission, not money, and would partner with other groups on cost. City Engineer Lorin Powell noted that the developers had been adamant the area stay untouched. The council gave the museum and the State Artifact Office permission. Koivisto joined the meeting at 5:38 p.m.
