Item 7 · Zoning
Zone change on 0.97 acres on North 600 West (Ordinance 03-2021)
Denied · 5-0
The applicants asked to change zoning from R-1-12 to R-1-8 to match surrounding properties. They said they had first sought a detached accessory dwelling unit (DADU) to save money but wanted to drop it and pursue a flag lot; they did not want to do both. A neighbor opposed, citing more traffic along the property line, safety, and the view that both a DADU and a flag lot should not be allowed, and read a letter from James Cox also opposing. Members expressed concerns, noting the DADU is already approved. Condie moved to deny with findings that the request does not meet General Plan goals or policies, the property is not conducive to a zone change, and a DADU has already been approved there.
