    Pole Canyon extraction permit

    Discussed

In the work session the council heard a request from DAI Land Development to remove about half a million cubic yards of material from a 68-acre area in 11-acre increments to grade for homes within the 3,000-acre Pole Canyon development, finishing by the end of 2020. Material would stay in Pole Canyon under the master development agreement. Members raised blasting, truck routes, dust, the 4000 North realignment with UDOT, fines, nearby residents and water tanks, ridgeline grading and processing noise. The council directed engineering to address these issues and consider regulations and fines. Staff will approve the permit unless the council asks for it to return as an action item.
