Council awards $5 million in road and water contracts, tentatively budgets small property tax increase

May 9, 2023, 7:00 p.m. · American Fork City Hall, 31 N. Church St.

The council tentatively adopted a fiscal 2024 budget that included about a $1-a-month property tax increase, roughly 3% or $200,000 for public safety and roads, with residents' total bills rising about $5 a month after utility increases. It awarded a $2,680,909 road overlay contract to Kilgore Contracting and a $2,362,562 State Street water main replacement to Condie Construction, the only bidder, whose price exceeded the engineer's estimate. It tabled a rezoning at 383 S. 500 East to seek a development agreement guaranteeing commercial use.
