Council questions Fork Fest's growing PARC grant, wants free Concerts in the Park

Reviewing PARC tax grant recommendations, Council Member Staci Carroll questioned Fork Fest's request rising from $40,000 two years ago to $60,000 to $85,000, and the council agreed the five Concerts in the Park should be free. Staff dropped a $90,000 frontage road trail project, freeing money that members suggested for finishing a $130,000 Art Dye restroom. Central Utah Water Conservancy District officials outlined state water-efficient landscaping rules and rebates.

    PARC chair Scott Okelberry recommended moving a delayed $7,800 history project allocation to the theater program and funding the Steel Days drone show. Carroll questioned Fork Fest's $85,000 (up from $40,000 and $60,000); Harrington's Spencer Stevens said last year's Collin Raye headliner concert drew about 1,500 at $10 a ticket, netting about $20,000 with $12,000 in costs. Consensus: five free concerts, any ticketed headliner as a sixth. A shared portable stage was discussed. A $90,000 frontage road trail south of I-15 was dropped after costs rose; Taylor suggested finishing the Art Dye trail restroom ($130,000), possibly with impact fees.
