Approved · 5-0 with the mayor

The council approved a resolution granting a conditional use permit for Brades' Place to operate a pediatric palliative care facility at 370 W 500 N. Assistant Development Services Director Jason Bench presented it with the business owner.

  2. March 28, 2023 · City Council

Pediatric palliative care facility added to city code (public hearing)

Approved · 7-0 with the mayor

The council amended the city code to create a Pediatric Palliative Care Facility land use. It would be allowed only as a conditional use on property that already has an approved conditional use permit and site plan for a residential health care facility (or one for the elderly) and has operated as one with at least eight residents. The change would allow Brades' Place to open a pediatric facility in a residential zone. One nearby resident spoke in support.

Moved by Council Member Tom Macdonald, seconded by Council Member Debby Lauret. Vote: 6-0; Mayor David A. Young also voted yes

  3. March 14, 2023 · City Council

Pediatric palliative care facility as a conditional use in the R7.5 zone (work session)

    Discussed

Assistant Development Services Director Jason Bench presented a proposed code amendment creating a new land use, Pediatric Palliative Care Facility, as a conditional use in the R7.5 zone. The change would let Brades Place use the former care facility at 370 W 500 N; the facility would have 26 beds, as the previous one did, and need state and city licensing. A neighborhood meeting raised no concerns. Council Member Jeff Lambson had raised the idea at an earlier meeting. The Planning Commission was to take it up March 15.
