Interlocal agreement to create a new school district (Resolution 2024-21)
Approved · 5-0
Mayor Johnson said the meeting authorizes preparation for a filing that could put a new-district proposal on the November ballot, not a final decision. Council Member Condie asked about future city obligations and advocacy roles; City Administrator Jason Walker called it uncharted territory. The motion recognizes that a western interlocal is forming with non-overlapping boundaries, expresses Lehi's support for it, authorizes the mayor to sign the agreement and make non-substantial changes, and adds findings: an interlocal lets Lehi voters decide without voters from outside the interlocal, a power cities have that the district does not, whereas a district-placed measure would need a majority across the whole district.
