Matthew Loveland of Fieldstone Homes said the trail location complies with the area plan and is only 3 feet wider than a sidewalk (8 feet versus 5), and that a traffic study shows it is safe. Council members said they had received emails and calls about safety of a trail in front of homes. The HOA representative said the HOA does not want to maintain an asphalt trail that crosses driveways and was concerned about easements. A recent homeowner raised density and school capacity, and resident Rob Ludlow said the trail would cross 16 driveways. Community Development Director Kim Struthers said the developer may use its allowed density and that setbacks and right of way meet the area plan. Options discussed included moving the trail behind the homes or to the other side of the road. The council tabled the plan and asked the applicant to consider other trail designs and address the easement and right-of-way concerns.
