Council accepts withdrawal of Chipman/Stake Center annexation, holds hearing on 620 South annexation
May 26, 2026, 7:00 p.m. · American Fork City Hall, 31 N. Church St.
The council accepted the withdrawal of the long-stalled Chipman/Stake Center annexation so it can be restarted, held a public hearing with no comment on the 6.8-acre 620 South annexation near 700 West, and amended the current budget to move street money into a new roads fund. It tabled the PARC tax disbursements for more review and approved a $20,970 reimbursement to Climb Ventures LLC. A new homeowner asked the city to require garages deep enough to actually park cars.

What residents said
Shallow garages that cannot fit carsSoil compaction and sinking concrete in new homes
Michelle Hawkins, who bought a 2017-built home in January, said builders are making garages too shallow to park a car once stairs and landings are included, and asked the city to define a parking stall as 20 unobstructed feet and to raise soil compaction standards because her concrete is sinking.
