Little Kate pathway update (work session)

    Discussed

The project includes a 12-foot shared-use path on the north side of Little Kate and an 8-foot path on the east side of Lucky John, narrowing the road from about 30 to 23.5 feet. Total cost is $2,200,000 with the city's share at $330,000; a grant awarded in 2023 funds most of it. Council members were divided on separating bikes and pedestrians. The mayor said the council wanted to advance the bus stop project and bring Little Kate back as a Phase 2; staff will propose reducing the contract amount. No vote.

Little Kate Road project (work session)

    Discussed

Staff presented four build concepts plus a no-change option; of 92 survey responses the most support was for 1A, a buffered bike lane with some sidewalk widening. The project has $2 million in funding, including $1.6 million in federal funds tied to a pre-approved scope. Council members mostly favored 1A or 1B; the mayor wanted traffic calming that takes space from travel lanes. It returns August 13 for final design. No vote.
