Salt Lake City International Airport Master Plan

    Approved · 6-0

The Council adopted Resolution 39 of 2022 approving the Airport's 2022 Master Plan Update with an appendix adding two priorities: reducing the carbon footprint of single-occupancy vehicle trips to the airport, and serving travelers for whom the long walk is a barrier, including those not normally eligible for accessibility accommodations. Legislative intents call for convening transit-focused meetings with the Administration and partners such as UTA, UDOT, airlines and vendors, including shared-ride options for airport employees and air quality measures.

Moved by Council Member Puy, seconded by Council Member Dugan. Vote: 6-0

  5. October 11, 2022 · City Council work session

Airport Master Plan follow-up and Airport Fund budget contingency

    Discussed

Airport staff updated the Council on the 2022 Master Plan Update, covering a new request for proposals for the third phase of concessions, parking and transit access (including a UTA analysis and why more surface parking is needed), facility requirements, and short-, mid- and long-term projects over 20 years. Council Member Puy stressed the airport's continued work on public transportation options, and staff said they recently met with UTA about ride sharing. Puy also asked whether contractors are monitored; the airport director said the construction project is the safest large project in the state by OSHA measures. The budget contingency release was discussed with the master plan.
