Indefinite alleyway closure in Jefferson Park
Discussed
Public Lands staff proposed closing a 16-by-275-foot north-south alley and part of a 15-by-100-foot east-west alley that lie entirely within Jefferson Park, so the park's parcels can be combined into one lot for park improvements, including stormwater detention. The work is funded by the Parks, Trails, and Open Space general obligation bond and capital improvement funds. Staff said no properties rely on these alleys, and the segment residents on 200 West and Goltz Avenue use is not affected. Council members asked whether future park parcel consolidations and alley closures could be grouped; staff said other parks need similar actions but team capacity requires handling them one at a time.

Indefinite closure of alleyways in Jefferson Park
Approved · 5-0
The council adopted Ordinance 41 of 2026 indefinitely closing a 16-foot by 275-foot north-south alley and part of a 15-foot by 100-foot east-west alley on Block 1 of the West Boulevard Subdivision within Jefferson Park. The closure lets the city merge the park's parcels into one to ease park improvements funded by the Parks, Trails and Open Space general obligation bond and Capital Improvement Program money. The alleys remain part of the park, no property relies on them for access, and the alley residents use on 200 West and Goltz Avenue is not affected. No one spoke.
