Thornwood Drive residents plead for repaving; council rezones 4.9 acres near 375 South 570 West to TOD
April 8, 2025, 7:00 p.m. · American Fork City Hall, 31 N. Church St.
Residents of Thornwood Drive, where they said 32 children live, asked the council to move their deteriorating street up the repair list after years of calls; Mayor Bradley Frost said the city's 10-year road plan has been undercut by costs and roads must be coordinated with underground utilities. The council rezoned about 4.94 acres at 375 South 570 West from agricultural to transit-oriented development, tabled a Roderick Enterprises reimbursement agreement, and approved a Utah County contract to run the 2025 municipal election.

What residents said
Thornwood Drive deteriorated pavement
Danielle Okelberry, Janene Murphy and Matt Paskett of Thornwood Drive said the street is badly deteriorated and unsafe, with 32 children living there, two people injured and over 90% of the asphalt separated from the curb; they said years of calls brought only a partial fix and asked for a repair timeline. Mayor Frost said the council hears them but must prioritize roads with underground utilities within the budget.
