Council awards $1.79 million Auto Mall Drive extension; tables 200 South cost-recovery deal after Allred family objects
February 11, 2025, 7:00 p.m. · American Fork City Hall, 31 N. Church St.
The council awarded a $1,786,402.50 contract, plus $170,000 contingency, to low bidder Landmark Excavating to extend Auto Mall Drive. It tabled a pioneering agreement letting Edgewater North developer AFEW1 recover 200 South improvement costs from neighbors after members of the Allred family said they were never notified, that the template ignored their earlier annexation agreement, and that 200 South development pushed road width onto their land. It also annexed 1.5 acres at 305 East 620 South with GC-2 zoning.

Notice to property owners on pioneering agreements200 South road costs pushed onto Allred family landHonoring prior annexation agreements
Daken Allred said his family's farm south of Pioneer Crossing was annexed under an agreement promising agricultural protection and nine free sewer connections, that the pioneering agreement ignored it and was placed on the agenda without notice, and that the family no longer trusts the city. His sister Challin Petersen said 200 South development pushed road width onto their land and residents shouldn't pay for road improvements; relative and neighbor Amber Lamph objected that parties weren't notified and questioned how costs were set.
