Dozens weigh in on school district split before council vote; YD3 annexation approved

July 23, 2024, 7:00 p.m. · American Fork City Hall, 31 N. Church St.

Eighteen people spoke at a hearing on the study recommending a new school district, with American Fork teachers and parents mostly opposed, citing costs, program losses and the Jordan-Canyons split, and others backing a public vote for better representation. In regular business the council annexed 0.20 acre at 250 South 1160 West into the TOD zone, accepted an $18,283 Firehouse Subs grant for a chest-compression device and accepted Main Street right-of-way from Kings Court.

From the approved minutes.
