Council denies Blackhurst high-density rezone at 440 S. 100 East as spot zoning
September 22, 2020, 7:00 p.m. · Held electronically (COVID-19 emergency)
The American Fork City Council unanimously denied a request to change the land-use designation and rezone a nearly 2-acre property at 440 S. 100 East to high density for townhomes, with members calling it spot zoning and saying twin homes allowed under current zoning fit the neighborhood. The council also accepted road dedication plats for 1100 West in the Edgewater area, approved UTA and Union Pacific crossing agreements for new water lines on 200 South and Main Street, and renewed UDOT's statewide utility license.

Carroll and Taylor opposed new pockets of high density; Barnes called it spot zoning; Shelton said twin homes fit and asked staff to revisit the high-density designation on the nearby trailer park (done Oct. 27).
