Ordinance 2025-33 and Resolution 2025-20: Olympic public art mural at about 2450 Kiesel Avenue
Approved · 7-0
The ordinance approves Ogden's only FY 2026 public art project, an Olympic mural, and the resolution awards it $110,000 from the Public Art Fund: $62,500 as the city's base contribution, $22,500 as contingency and $25,000 for lighting. Total cost is estimated at $210,000, with partners Visit Ogden, Snowbasin, MarketStar and the MarketStar Foundation expected to cover the rest through cash and in-kind support. The mural is to be designed and installed starting in 2026 to mark Utah's 2034 Winter Olympics. Council Member Ken Richey asked about a sidewalk; Mayor Nadolski said the nearby parking garage has a blind exit and any change needs engineering review. Laura Lewis said the site is unsafe for pedestrians; Heath Satow asked whether the standard public art process was followed (Arts Administrator Lorie Buckley said it was); Linda Sanchez asked for a unifying theme. Both measures passed 7-0.
