Workshop: Westfield Warehouse code amendment for live/work in Commercial Services zone (Ordinance 20-12)
Discussed
Tony Johnson of HRT Holdings asked to allow live/work use, residential treatment and residential daycare (up to 16 clients) in the Commercial Services zone at 20 units per acre. Staff and the Planning Commission recommended denial 7-0, saying the zone is not meant for residential use. A May 4 memo offered a rezone to Commercial as an alternative, which Johnson preferred. Council Members Jensen and Mark Anderson liked an all-Commercial designation; Simmonds wanted live/work defined separately and worried about the commercial tax base; Chair Anderson was hesitant about project-specific zoning. Action was set for May 19.
