Staff floats $1-a-month property tax increase, 20% garbage rate hike in budget preview

April 11, 2023, 6:00 p.m. · American Fork City Hall, 31 N. Church St.

Finance Director Anna Montoya previewed the fiscal 2024 budget: taxes up $880,552 but licenses and permits down $885,000 as development slows, and a sanitation fund running a deficit that would require raising the first-can rate about 20%. City Administrator David Bunker proposed a $1-a-month (3.12%) property tax increase, saying residents at last year's Truth in Taxation hearing preferred small, regular increases.
