Council sends Station Area Plan to MAG after south-side farm family objects to concept of moving station onto their land

September 9, 2025, 7:00 p.m. · American Fork City Hall, 31 N. Church St.

The council approved the American Fork Station Area Plan as to form for state review, adding notes that it creates no entitlements, is a concept to meet state law, and marks the Hunting family centennial farm, after farm owner Amber Lamph objected to a concept showing the FrontRunner station moved west onto the farm. It also extended the 200 South interlocal agreement with Utah County to keep MAG funding, approved a $130,000 change order for the Auto Mall Drive extension, declared property surplus, and approved seasonal and industrial-zone business uses.

Station Area Plan concept showing station moved onto a family farmPedestrian safety at signals

Jared Payne asked for leading pedestrian intervals at signals after nearly being hit several times. Amber Lamph, whose family owns a south-side centennial farm, said the Station Area Plan ignored Planning Commission requests: it did not mark the farm, did not drop the option of moving the station west onto their land, and showed buildings on farmland; she said the family will keep farming, the area lacks sewer and water capacity for the density shown, and half the plan area is in Lehi.
