Council accepts $1.5 million federal grant to meter 3,400 pressurized irrigation connections

October 12, 2021, 7:00 p.m. · American Fork City Hall, 31 N. Church St.

The American Fork City Council approved a Bureau of Reclamation WaterSMART agreement providing $1.5 million, matched by $1.5 million in city money, to install about 3,400 AMI-ready meters on older pressurized irrigation connections, a $3 million first phase. On a 4-1 vote, with Councilmember Staci Carroll opposed, the council rezoned 341 N. 300 East so the owners can build a five-plex. It also forfeited a $10,000 contractor bond to repair asphalt and sold a 4,642-square-foot sliver at the Boat Harbor to Timp Marina Club for $15,094.
