Clearfield's utility funds send $1.16 million to the general fund for administration
Clearfield's fiscal 2027 budget moves $1,158,322 from five utility funds to the general fund to pay for shared administrative services, plus a separate $170,000 noncash entry for water the city uses. The $1,158,322 figure is the same in all four budget years the document shows.

Clearfield dissolves 35-year-old RDA 8 with about $1 million left to spend
Clearfield's council voted 4–0 in June to dissolve Redevelopment Project Area 8, which stopped collecting tax increment in December 2025. A staff memo said about $1 million remained, and state law requires any funds unspent at the end of the dormancy period to be returned to taxing entities.

Clearfield raises property tax rate after state rejected last year's increase
Clearfield's council voted 4–0 on Aug. 11 to set a property tax rate of 0.001253, above the certified rate of 0.001176, for an estimated $233,106 in additional revenue. City documents say the State Tax Commission rejected the city's previous increase in September 2025.

Clearfield's budget forecasts reserves $172,968 above its two-month target
Clearfield's fiscal 2027 budget plans to draw $2,197,288 from general fund reserves, leaving a forecast $4,418,637 unrestricted balance. That is $172,968 more than two months of operating expenses, after about $1.8 million in capital requests were deferred or eliminated.

Reserve a Clearfield pavilion, field or facility

Choose a location. Pavilions are at Steed, Barlow, Central, Fox Hollow, Kiwanis, Island View and Aquatic Center parks, plus Bicentennial Amphitheater.
Reserve online at clearfieldcity.activityreg.com/facilities. The city requires four days' advance notice, and the fee is due when you apply.
The city says pavilions are reservable May 1 to September 30 in 3.5-hour blocks starting at 8 AM, noon or 4 PM, and are first come, first served outside that window.

Clearfield at a glance

Davis County · Utah

Clearfield, in Davis County, calls itself Utah's Military City, and the label has a history behind it. The Navy picked the site for a supply depot on April 11, 1942, and by 1945 it was the largest Naval Supply Depot in the world. After the depot was decommissioned in 1962, its 680-acre warehouse district became the Freeport Center, now home to more than 70 companies and over 7,000 jobs. The Utah State Records Center moved into one of its buildings in 2012.

The city website lists the mayor and council members and links to public notices, plus the planning pages, building permits, utility payments and parks. The planning page carries application forms for land use, accessory dwelling units and lot line adjustments, a posted calendar of Planning Commission deadlines and an interactive zoning map. To follow a land use decision, find the application's Planning Commission date on that calendar, then watch for the notice and agenda before the meeting.
