Provo council votes 6-0 to vacate part of 1600 West and ratify Level II fire restrictions; rezones continued

July 14, 2026, 5:30 p.m. · 445 W. Center Street, Provo

At its July 14 meeting, also sitting as the Redevelopment Agency governing board, the Provo council voted 6-0, with Councilor Garrett excused, to vacate a 20-foot strip of 1600 West and deed it back to adjoining owners, to accept the 2025 wastewater planning survey, and to ratify Level II fire restrictions in the city watershed. It pinned badges on new firefighters and continued the Tuscanel Townhomes and other rezones, a general plan amendment and rezone for about 100.7 acres at 6622 N Hwy 189, and two interlocal agreements with the RDA. One resident urged the council to respond to concerns of local content creators.
