CDBG-CV amendment: Geneva Elementary dividers and public services
Approved · 5-1 with the mayor
CDBG Advisory Commission chair Ken Ransom said Orem's $411,983 CARES Act allocation had $209,950 committed so far. The commission recommended $4,500 for plexiglass lunchroom dividers at Geneva Elementary, a Title I school. Council Member Tom Macdonald asked why the city funds a school district expense; staff said the district lacked COVID funds and the money serves Orem families. The commission also recommended $197,532.66 for public services. No one spoke at the hearing. Macdonald had technical problems and no vote was recorded for him.

Name 1200 West as Wolverine Way
Approved · 6-1 with the mayor
Utah Valley University asked the city to name 1200 West, which links Center Street and University Parkway to its Orem campus, Wolverine Way. The road is public from 800 South to the Lindon border and private (UVU-owned) from 800 South to University Parkway. Signs would show both names and the signage continues to 1600 North to avoid confusion. Council Member Brent Sumner asked why the extension; staff said a split name would confuse drivers.
