Council holds strategic planning session on a draft vision and five focus areas; no action taken

All six members of the council met for a discussion-only strategic planning session. Staff presented on organizational vision, Council Members Craig Whiting and Zachory Huish offered a draft vision statement that the council refined, and the council reviewed five focus areas: citizen experience, stewardship, essential services, regional partnerships and economic prosperity. Department heads will identify key projects and a later meeting will finalize council priorities.

City Manager Ben Reeves presented videos on organizational vision and Evan Berrett continued. The council discussed why the existing vision statement may not fit the city's direction and the concept of 'The Eagle Mountain Way'. The refined vision centers on a distinct way of life, rural heritage, open space and recreation, and prosperity in Utah County. The council brainstormed priorities for each focus area. The agenda labels the item a resolution but no vote was recorded.
