Council bans outdoor water use north of State Route 73 in emergency meeting

July 10, 2024, 8:00 p.m. · Eagle Mountain City Council Chambers, 1650 E Stagecoach Run, Eagle Mountain, Utah

At an emergency meeting the council voted 5-0 to adopt a mayor's proclamation prohibiting outdoor water use in a portion of the city north of State Route 73, choosing the second of two area options. Staff said demand in the high-pressure zone exceeded the city's ability to produce water. The proclamation still lets people water animals, hand-water gardens and use drip irrigation.

Proclamation prohibiting short-term outdoor water use north of SR-73

    Approved · 5-0 · Area north of SR-73, high-pressure water zone

Interim City Manager Steve Mumford presented two options for the area where outdoor water use would be prohibited because demand in the high-pressure zone exceeded production. Council Member Jared Gray moved to adopt the proclamation with option 2 as the affected area and exceptions for watering animals, hand-watered gardens and drip irrigation. The minutes do not describe the two options beyond saying the area is north of SR-73.

Moved by Council Member Jared Gray, seconded by Council Member Rich Wood. Vote: 5-0
