Jordan Valley Station area plan

The council adopted the Jordan Valley Station area plan on Sept. 22, 2026 (Ordinance 26-34), 5-0, after the Planning Commission recommended approval. Staff said the plan will go to the Wasatch Front Regional Council for certification; the minutes do not say whether that is complete. An area plan is a planning document, not a rezone or building approval.

Adopting the Jordan Valley Station and Sugar Factory Road Station area plans (Ordinance 26-34)

    Approved · 5-0

Senior Planner Tayler Jensen presented changes made since the council last reviewed the plans: 3-D concept renderings were removed, 2-D maps of the current built environment were added, no new housing is shown south of the TRAX line at Sugar Factory Road Station, and the only new housing shown there is on the UTA parking lot. The Planning Commission reviewed the plans and recommended approval. If adopted, the plans go to the Wasatch Front Regional Council for certification; the minutes do not say whether that has happened. Jensen said the city has one remaining station area plan, for 4800 South and New Bingham Highway, due by the end of 2027, and that staff would seek an exception like the one South Jordan received. No one spoke at the public hearing.
