Draper council approves records-code revision and Planning Commission appointments, 4-0
September 1, 2026
With Council Member Mike Green excused, the council voted 4-0 to approve Ordinance 1737, revising the government-records chapter of the city code, and approved a five-item consent agenda 4-0. City Recorder Nicole Smedley told the council the existing language duplicated state code and the cleanup would not change city practices; that is the recorder's explanation, not an independent legal conclusion. The consent agenda included Planning Commission appointments and authorization for the mayor to sign a quitclaim deed for property in the Suncrest development, which is not evidence the deed was signed or recorded. The minutes were approved Sept. 15, 2026. This entry covers the council's recorded actions, not the separate Community Reinvestment Agency meeting.

Item 5.a · City code
Ordinance 1737: government records, Title 3, Chapter 4
Approved · 4-0
City Recorder Nicole Smedley presented amendments to the city code on government records access and management, saying the existing language duplicated state code and the changes would streamline it without changing city practices. The approved minutes list this as an action item; the city's recap calls it a public hearing, and this entry follows the minutes.
