Monson began House service in January 2025 and represents District 69, a broad rural district spanning portions of southeastern and southern Utah. His current standing assignments include Health and Human Services and Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment. They bring clinical-service questions and the management of land, water and agricultural resources into the same legislative portfolio. [1]
Assisted-living residents and appeals
Monson sponsored 2026 HB506, Assisted Living Amendments. The introduced bill proposed limits on when facilities could discharge or transfer residents and an administrative appeals process. It also addressed help from an ombudsman, hearing procedures and circumstances involving health or safety. The document provides a concrete example of his health-policy work and proposed resident protections, including proposed hearing rights and procedures for residents challenging a facility's decision. [2]
