A. Cory Maloy studied business at Ricks College and communications at Brigham Young University, with a public-relations emphasis. His House biography describes work as a reporter and editor at BYU's Daily Universe and a subsequent career in public-relations strategy. He founded Maloy PR in Lehi, bringing a communications and small-business background to his work in the Utah Legislature. [2]
District 52 and legislative service
Maloy began House service in 2017 and represents District 52 in Utah County. His official record lists work with the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce and identifies public relations as his profession. His standing assignments include House Business, Labor, and Commerce and House Government Operations, placing business regulation and the administration of public agencies in his legislative portfolio alongside district representation. How he says lawmakers should evaluate bills
In a March 2026 statement on his own website, Maloy rejected the idea that legislators should begin consideration of every bill with a presumed no vote. He argued for examining the problem, questioning a proposal and improving it before deciding. He also acknowledged concern about the volume of legislation. In the 2026 General Session, A. Cory Maloy was chief sponsor of H.B. 14, Behavior Analyst Licensing Amendments. It would have extended the Behavior Analyst Licensing Act's sunset date to July 1, 2036. The House passed it and the Senate passed it on second reading, but it did not receive a final Senate vote, and it was filed on March 6, 2026. [3]
In the 2026 General Session, A. Cory Maloy was chief sponsor of H.B. 52, Tribal Endorsement of Utah Driver License Amendments. It lets applicants ask that a driver license or ID card carry a notation that they are an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe, and tells the Driver License Division what proof it must accept. The governor signed it on March 26, 2026. [4]
Budget and interim responsibilities
The Legislature lists Maloy on General Government Appropriations, the Business and Labor Interim Committee and the Judiciary Interim Committee. Those assignments broaden his work from communications and commercial issues to agency spending and legal policy between general sessions. The appropriations assignment provides a separate venue for reviewing the cost and administration of programs, complementing the policy committees on which he serves. [2]
