Cox and Martin discussed existing trade and research partnerships, new opportunities, efforts to limit the harm technology does to children and policies that support family well-being. The delegation has also met U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Edward Walsh and heard from Irish business and government leaders. [1]
At a reception Wednesday, Cox said that with wars and trade disputes around the world, "the subnational relationships matter more than they maybe ever have." Jeff Flake, board chairman of World Trade Center Utah, said countries have historically returned to international trade. [1]
Utah companies including Qualtrics, Ancestry.com and Merit Medical already operate in Ireland. Merit Medical, based in South Jordan, opened a manufacturing facility there in 1993 and now has more than a thousand employees in the country, according to Erin Berry, the company's vice president of government affairs.
