Doppelmayr USA has moved into a new headquarters campus at 3080 W. 500 South in Salt Lake City. The 160,000-square-foot site has about 120,000 square feet of production and warehouse space, 40,000 square feet of offices and training rooms, and 68,000 square feet of covered outdoor space.
President and CEO Keith Johns said the move "almost doubles" the company's production and office space. The plant will now make conical lift towers that had been built in Austria and shipped over, according to Lift Blog. Johns said Doppelmayr stayed in Utah for its workforce and suppliers, the state's support for manufacturing and its closeness to big Western resorts.
The Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity approved a post-performance tax incentive in June 2024, when Doppelmayr projected 130 high-paying jobs over 10 years and about $82.4 million in wages. The company has made lift equipment in Salt Lake City since the early 2000s and built five new chairlifts for Deer Valley's expansion.
Johns said the company will wait and see on further growth as the 2034 Winter Games approach, and it plans to lease out its old building for now.
