Orem council certifies 2021 general election results in brief special session

November 16, 2021, 4:00 p.m. · Council Chambers, 56 North State Street

In a four-minute special session, the Orem City Council, acting as the Board of Canvassers, certified the results of the 2021 general election as provided by the Utah County Elections Office. Council Member Debby Lauret was excused.

From the approved minutes. Updated October 14, 2026.

Orem's mayor is a voting member of the seven-member council. The minutes count the six council members in each tally and record the mayor's vote beside it, so a council vote of 6-0 with the mayor voting yes is 7-0 with the mayor.

City Recorder JoD'Ann Bates presented the final results from the Utah County Elections Office. The council, sitting as the Board of Canvassers, certified them.

Moved by Mayor Richard Brunst, seconded by Council Member Jeff Lambson. Vote: 5-0 among council members; Mayor Richard Brunst also voted aye. The minutes list Council Member Debby Lauret, who was excused, among the ayes and do not list Council Member Jeff Lambson, who is recorded as seconding; this appears to be a clerical error.
