Item 7a · City code
Ordinance 26-45: prohibited parking
Approved · 6-0
The council approved an ordinance amending Title 7, Chapter 3, Section 6 on prohibited parking. Senior Assistant City Attorney Patrick Boice said the ordinance adds back language previously removed from city code, because staff found state code did not adequately address the issues. Council Member Whitelock noted a resident's letter asking for a 48-hour street-parking limit; a police lieutenant said the city's 72-hour limit is in line with state code.

Approved · 6-0
The council approved an ordinance enacting Title 7, Chapter 6 on electric bicycles. Ordinance 26-46: negligent collisions
Approved · 5-1
The council approved an ordinance enacting Title 7, Chapter 2, Section 3 on negligently colliding. Boice said the language had been removed from city code because law enforcement said it was not used, but the city's criminal prosecutors later found it useful in charging documents and plea negotiations. Council Member Jacob questioned why the city needs its own language given overlap with state code, and voted no.
