  5. Item 8 · Public hearing

Partial vacation of 9270 South Street near State Street (Ordinance 20-07)

Approved with conditions · 7-0 · Approximately 9270 South State Street (Community #4, Historic Sandy)

Mike Gladbach introduced Ryan Kump, who presented the request, and Senior Civil Attorney Darien Alcorn explained the vacation process. Area property owner Brian Chamberlin strongly supported the project and said a traffic signal at the intersection would be an asset. The council adopted the ordinance vacating a portion of the street as shown in its exhibits. Findings were that the transfer to abutting owners gives good cause, that there is no material injury to the public interest or any person, and that abutting owners did not object. Conditions: the vacation must be completed through council action, the ordinance must be recorded with the Salt Lake County Recorder, and the property transfer waits until traffic is re-routed using the new right-of-way.
