Agenda, item by item

  1. City code

Zone text amendments for group dwellings (multiple units on one lot)

    Discussed

Senior Planner Brandon Rypien answered council questions from the Jan. 9 work session on a petition by Mike Bastian to update Chapter 10 of the zoning code on group dwellings. Staff favored a variety of building types, recommended a 30-foot rear-to-rear building separation, noted the current tree requirement of two trees and five five-gallon shrubs per unit, and recommended requiring three architectural detailing elements instead of four because a front porch is always required. Discussion covered the optional detailing list, whether separation should vary with building height, and the difference between building type and building style. The council said it was comfortable proceeding to consideration of the ordinance.

  3. Other

    Video captioning of council meetings

    Discussed

Council staff asked whether captioning, which was provided for recent meetings, should become standard. The council broadly supported it.

  4. Public safety

    Discussed

Chief Administrative Officer Mara Brown reported on city efforts to tell residents and businesses about changes to the winter on-street parking ordinance, including work with the Ogden Downtown Alliance to remind businesses they must clear sidewalks after storms.
