Monroe at a glance Sevier County · Utah
Monroe is a city in Sevier County named for President James Monroe. The Mormon Pioneer National Heritage Area says a small group of civilian men founded the town to build a fort for protection. The city runs its own power and water departments, and the school district's South Sevier Middle School and High School are in the area.
The city website has a City Council page, an agendas and minutes page, public notices and hearings, and boards and commissions including the Planning Commission and Utility Board. Residents can find forms and permits, planning and zoning, the power and water departments, an outage map, the library, the cemetery and parks. Public notices and hearings are listed on a dedicated page, so match the posted agenda with the notice and, later, the minutes.
