Work

The Tribune's questionnaire describes Tran as Kaysville mayor since 2022 and founder of a defense contracting company. [1]

In their own words: the Tribune questionnaire

Tran did not respond to the Tribune's questionnaire, so the paper lists no answers from her on corruption, affordability, water, other issues or Constitutional Amendments A and B. Her opponents in the race are Democrat Jared Neal and Forward Party candidate Josh Smith. [1]

Background, from the campaign website

These are the candidate's own statements from the campaign website, not checked by The Utah Ledger. The Meet Tami page says Tran is mayor of Kaysville, first elected in 2021, and began in local government as a planning commissioner and then served on the city council. It says she has been a county and state delegate and attended Brigham Young University as a political science major. It says she began her career in mortgage lending, later moved into commercial development, real estate and business ownership, and in 2004 co-founded a Department of Defense contracting company, where she is CEO. It lists her as chair of the Davis Technical College Board of Trustees and of the Davis County Council of Governments, a member of the Weber State University National Advisory Board, and says she led creation of the Davis County Council of Mayors. [3]

From the campaign website

These are the candidate's own statements from the campaign website, not checked by The Utah Ledger. The site's tagline is "Strong Families. Freedom. Accountability." It lists balanced budgets and opposition to unnecessary spending, simpler and more stable taxes, opposition to cronyism, school choice among public, private, charter and home school, support for police, firefighters and first responders and for victim rights, defense of gun rights for law-abiding citizens, local conservation over federal mandates, and transparency in process and spending. It also says Tran will "stand for the unborn" and oppose taxpayer-funded abortion. [2]
