Education and clean-energy work

Nate Blouin's official legislative record identifies his profession as renewable-energy advocate. His education includes an associate degree from Salt Lake Community College, a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah and graduate public-affairs study at Brown University. The Senate Democratic caucus's biography links that background to environmental and sustainability work rather than providing a detailed employer-by-employer career chronology. [1] [2]

Representing the central Salt Lake Valley

Blouin began Senate service in January 2023 and represents District 13 in Salt Lake County. His caucus biography identifies parts of Sugar House, Millcreek, Murray, West Valley City and South Salt Lake within the district. Those are portions of communities, not a claim that he represents every resident of each city. His state Senate office is separate from any campaign for another office. [1] [2]

Air, water, energy and housing

The caucus identifies clean energy, air quality, affordable housing and the Great Salt Lake as Blouin's priorities. It also describes sponsorship of 2023 proposals on lake restoration and commercial energy storage. These are attributed descriptions of legislative interests; they should not be read as findings that a particular project restored lake levels or lowered housing costs. His background gives context for that environmental focus. [1]

In the 2026 General Session, Nate Blouin was chief sponsor of S.B. 136, Enforcement Activities Amendments. It would have barred state and local officers from helping with federal immigration enforcement at sensitive locations or houses of worship, and generally prohibited law enforcement employees from wearing face coverings, with criminal and civil consequences and an exemption for agencies that publicly post a policy. It never reached a Senate floor vote: a committee held it, and it was filed on March 6, 2026. [3]

In the 2026 General Session, Nate Blouin was chief sponsor of S.B. 178, Right to Work Amendments. It would have repealed Utah's Right to Work Law. It never reached a floor vote: a committee sent it back to the Rules Committee, and it was filed on March 6, 2026. [4]

Committee and budget responsibilities

The current Legislature record places Blouin on Senate Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment and Government Operations and Political Subdivisions. His appropriations work includes Natural Resources and General Government, while interim assignments include natural resources and political subdivisions. These records are the current reference where older caucus biography text describes a different committee lineup. Following both substantive hearings and budget hearings helps distinguish policy proposals from the money available to implement them. [2]
